Why antidepressant insomnia happens and why curing it by stopping antidepressant.
As you probably remember from my previous articles, I decided to start discussing topics related to sleeping disorders, and the most common one is insomnia, especially antidepressant insomnia or insomnia caused by depression. Last week, we analyzed what is insomnia and how to treat it, as insomnia can cause a lot of frustration, irritability and mainly tiredness, as when we suffer antidepressant insomnia or any other type of insomnia our body is not recovering those hours of constant work, so its energy becomes so weak. First of all, I am going to start saying that certain antidepressants may be stimulating, especially when you first start consuming them, which may cause you to temporarily have trouble sleeping as you fiddle with to the medication.
more rest: 1. You must remember to take your medication in the morning, that way you have the entire day for the active ingredients to take effect. 2. Please avoid caffeinated food and beverages, as caffeine is an stimulant that reactivates our body, causing insomnia too. 3. Practice some type of regular exercise during at least four or five hours before you go to bed, that way your body will feel tired and will ask you for a rest. 4. Develop a good sleep hygiene (meaning that you should sleep enough hours, sleep well, not at any time whenever you want, follow a schedule). 5. If none of the above recommendations seem to work for you, then you better talk to your doctor about temporarily taking a sleep aid at bedtime. Let’s say you have depression and over the last month you have been already taking a new antidepressant; you have been on this drug for six weeks now and it does show to have solved your depression problem, but at the same time it is giving you another: antidepressant insomnia. So you get stressed out, you feel tired all the time because you can’t sleep one sec and you need a solution. Some people tend to react faultily to antidepressants, at the same time as side effects can seem moderately mild in others, but ironically, antidepressants may be helpful for some people at some times, while in others these side effects can be very depressing.
One of the most popular side effects of this type of prescription drugs is antidepressant insomnia, and it can be treated either by following the steps above or by stopping antidepressant medication completely, whichever the doctor decides. The reason why there are so many side effects associated with the use of this kind of drugs is really due to the lack of full understanding about how antidepressants, and depression, affect the brain simultaneously. That is why the best way of attacking Antidepressant Insomnia is either by not using the medication that is causing the antidepressant insomnia any longer and start using another one with a different composition perhaps that acts differently in the brain or simply stopping antidepressant drugs entirely.
So, there is cure for antidepressant insomnia…There is a solution for your antidepressant insomnia and if your doctor recommends stopping antidepressant just do it and he will find another way to treat your insomnia, just trust him and patient.
